Some things only happens in Korea...(well almost)

Here some of the funny/weird stuff or anything that got my attention over the last weeks...

Found in a store, from what I understand this is use by everybody, your put your phone number on it and put it on the car's window. Since its a very populated city, its not easy to find parking spot and people park everywhere all the time, blocking often others,  they display messages like , sorry I needed the spot, call if you need, don't be mad I'm leaving soon....

a kind of bell in the toilet, this one is an etiquette bell, to make the flush noise so you don't disturb the neighbor, but contrarily to Japan they don't really use it here. 

What's that? it`s a tongue inspector with magnifier and a case to inspect on the go ! :)

Another mystery, another bell...They have this button inside every toilet at school...when I asked that say if you need some help... I guess Korean girls are so small they must get stuck in the toilet from time to time...

It's raining so I'm late...

It seems I'm still waiting for another late friend... why are they late? Because it's raining of course! LOL

Here it seems everybody is late when it rains. I asked around and it's kinda normal behavior.At first I couldn't understand. I was thinking: I'm here, on time and I have to deal with that rain too... what about snowstorms? In Canada we can have lots of snow and you still have to be on time, go to school or whatever you have to attend. But then I reflected a little on the subject... it's true traffic is almost heavy all the time in Seoul especially downtown but its a lot worst when it rains. Imagine a city over 20 millions deciding to take the car because its raining haha that's a big traffic jam! or that much people taking the subway while they usually would walk, take a taxi or bus...Metro jam! lol anyway it's true I understand more now but you know what when I get up I check the weather and I PLAN ahead!!! and I don't even have a window and I manage to be on time anyway LOL

....and oh boy guess what they forecasting for tomorrow: RAIN AGAIN!!!
I was really surprised when we got a typhoon few days ago, 2 deaths , lots of damage, Metro shutdown but still have to go to school and and everybody could make it on time, even the teacher. typhoon is ok but rain no haha

MONEY!

An another important thing: money.

well who can live without it? especially not South Koreans. Money is an important status marker in this capitalist and appearances focused society. Many Koreans live beyond their mean, with lots of debts due to social pressure. but that a totally different subject.

So lets do some money talk :D

The currency in Korea is the Won. it was use for a thousand years before the Japanese enforce the Yen during the colonial period. After the Japanese liberation the won was reintroduced and was worth 15 Won for each US dollar. Today one US dollar = 1,175 Won. The highest bill was the 10 000 Won bill until very recently (2009) they created a 50 000 Bill but still is not yet widely spread/used. Imagine last time I had to pay my rent I had to pay about 450 000W in 10 000W bills that's a lot of money to carry around hehe.
